Gabriel Jacobs is a visual engineer based in NYC. With dual backgrounds in fine
arts and technology, he solves problems through storytelling, visual design,
analytic research, systems technology, and product fabrication.

This multi-disciplinary approach applies to work across a variety of fields,
including finance, marketing, fabrication, photography and digital media,
computer programming and fashion.

SOMADA SYSTEMS is an experimental accessories project I founded in 2025 and developed in collaboration with two partners. The work consolidates a year of research into digitally designed, additively manufactured objects operating at the intersection of industrial design, speculative fiction, and fashion systems.

The project is structured as both a product line and a narrative framework. Somada positions its artifacts as physical outputs of a fictionalized research entity: Somada Laboratories, a decommissioned tri-governmental program tasked with stabilizing dormant bio-anomalies for dermal integration.

The fictional premise is not branding. It functions as a design constraint. Form, material choice, surface logic, and assembly methods are all derived from this internal fiction, resulting in objects that prioritize anatomical rhythm, modular repetition, and biomechanical tension.

In addition to leading product design and manufacturing, I co-produced all visual and marketing materials for Somada Systems. This included campaign imagery, editorial assets, and e-commerce content, developed in collaboration with Creative Director Kirsten Opp.

The project was presented through high-end styled shoots and controlled releases, positioning the objects within a broader visual system that mirrors their conceptual origin. Somada is an ongoing project. Design, fabrication, narrative, and deployment are authored as a single system, and the line continues to expand.
